Attention ALL teachers K-12
SOUTH WESTERN SYDNEY REGION

Has your curriculum become a little dull and lifeless?

Are you searching for new ways to engage your digital natives?

Are you struggling for survival in a technologically complex world?

Do you yearn to have fun AND teach – SIMULTANEOUSLY???

Have you ever considered the benefits of student film production but figured it was just too hard?

WE CAN HELP CHANGE ALL THAT!!!!

Lights, Camera, Action! originated in 2007 as a professional development project focused on encouraging teachers to push the boundaries of learning K-12 and deliver a highly engaging and creative 21st Century curriculum through student-generated film production. Over 50 teachers and 600 students were involved in this project which culminated in a red carpet movie premiere at Dumaresq Street Cinemas. You can imagine the delight of these talented Year 2 to 11 students when they saw their films on the big screen and experienced the 300+ audience’s response to their stories! Not one of the teachers involved in this project had prior experience in film production or music composition. They went from naught to Jane Campion and Steven Spielberg in a matter of months. Participating students’ became more engaged in their learning and their literacy and subject knowledge improved dramatically!

Due to the success of last year’s initiative, the project is expanding into a region-wide film festival in order to recognize and nurture the creative talents of South Western Sydney’s students aged 4 to 18. What sets this festival apart is its critical focus on providing quality teacher professional development workshops in all aspects of film production and music composition. This will ensure that all students can participate regardless of their teacher’s prior knowledge or experience.

So get your class involved! REGISTER YOUR INTEREST NOW to stay up to date with workshops, events and Festival news!
